Liver Cleanse Diet Methods
- Master Cleanse
- Lemon water Cleanse
- Juice cleanse
- Tea Cleanse
- Liver supplements
- Bentonite Cleanse
Be sure to read about the most beneficial liver cleansing method I have found to date, The Apple Cider Vinegar Diet.
The effectiveness of the Master Cleanse relies on you not eating during your time on it.
The Master Cleanse is an example of a liver cleanse where nothing but liquid is taken for a least of 10 days.
Although this liver cleanse is effective it is difficult to do, as it is taxing on your body.
When doing the Master cleanse I found it so hard on my body I could only get through 3 days of it.
I was hungry as you can imagine and very weak as well. Bad headaches were also something I had to endure while on the Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet.
But, don’t let my experience dissuade you from doing the cleanse yourself. If you think the cleanse could help you, do research on it.
Watch YouTube videos on the subject and see what people are saying in the forums about the Master Cleanse diet.
Lemon Water Cleanse
Most people when hearing the word lemon may think of the word lemonade. The word may even conjurer thoughts of their favorite pie…
And of course there are a host of other ways lemons are used in our foods. But did you know that drinking warm lemon water can provide a host of health benefits besides detoxifying and cleansing the liver?
Here are some of the health benefits derived from consuming lemons
- Increases your body’s metabolic rate
- Helps with weight loss
- Aids in digestive health
- Detoxifies the liver (2):
There are two ways that you can drink lemon water. You can drink it first thing in the morning or along with non-chilled water throughout the day. The latter being the way I enjoy it most.
Make sure that whenever you drink it in the morning that you do it on an empty stomach to get the full benefit of the drink.
If the drink is too acidic you can try mixing in a teaspoon of raw organic honey or some other sweet fruit. The possibilities are endless as far as how you can jazz up your lemon water.
This detox liver cleanse uses a combination of fruits and vegetables. Below are a few of the foods that are ideal for detoxing and cleansing the liver.
Before I get into the actual ingredients of the cleanse let’s talk about the taste of this recipe. You heard the saying everything that tastes good is not good for you?
Well, think of this drink in opposite terms. Of course, you will have to be the judge.
Foods needed to do a juice cleanse:
- 2 large carrots
- 3-4 stalks of celery
- small slice of ginger root
- 1 lemon (peeled)
- green apples (non-granny smith)
- 4-5 washed spinach leaves
Of course you want to make sure you wash each ingredient before you slice them and place them in your juicer. You can use either filtered water or coconut water as a base.
Also, in case you don’t know. It doesn’t matter how long you run the juicer if it has carrots in it the drink’s consistency will be thick. If that’s the case next time use smaller carrots or fewer carrots.
Of course, you can also cut the consistency by adding a little more water. Remember when it comes to liver health taste is not what’s important.
One way you can make the drink taste more palatable is by adding an extra apple. I find that that is all that’s needed for the drink making it more tolerable, at least for me. Maybe for you as well.
The final thing I want to say about juicing in general. Whenever you juice make sure that all fruits and vegetables are organic as they are best for what you need.
There are many herbal teas that you can choose from that have detoxing properties. Milk Thistle, Stinging Nettle, African Red Tea and Green Tea among others. Green tea is one such tea that I enjoy drinking. And although green tea is currently my preferred detox tea the taste for me was an acquired one. If you’ve never had a cup of green tea keep in mind that the taste won’t be great.
One thing I like to often do is have an extra large cup of green tea with about 3 or 4 slices of lemons.
Often squeezing some extra juice from the lemon into my cup. Lemons and green tea are not only high in antioxidants but when combined provide a simple pathway to better health.
This method of cleansing your liver is ideal especially if you are already a tea drinker.
The best thing about doing a tea cleanse is you don’t have to alter much in your life to bring about the desired change.
Liver supplementation is for people who are looking for an easy solution for liver cleansing that doesn’t need much time or effort. And like it’s herbal tea counterpart liver supplements use some of the same herbal extracts with Milk Thistle being the main ingredient.
Milk thistle is taken most often for liver disorders, including liver damage caused by chemicals, alcohol, and chemotherapy, as well as liver damage caused by Amanita phalloides (death cap) mushroom poisoning, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic inflammatory liver disease, cirrhosis of the liver, and chronic hepatitis.(3)
If you should try supplementation make sure whatever you are considering buying has Milk Thistle in it.
This cleanse utilizes another all natural substance called bentonite clay. Having the appearance of volcanic ash, bentonite clay has a variety of uses. It is used for everything from detox foot baths and full body detox baths among others.
Bentonite clay is nothing short of amazing. When consumed orally it seeks out and binds itself to every toxin and heavy metal it finds allowing it to be flushed from the body.
Even though bentonite clay can be used as a topical solution it is safe to take by mouth. The only side effect I have found using bentonite clay is the fact that it will cause constipation.
Bentonite clay v. Detoxificant
Bentonite clay comes in two forms, as mentioned in clay form and in the detoxificant. The detoxificant is the liquid form, premixed in water.
The advantage of using the liquid form is that it is easier to work with, plus it can be consumed with less effort.
How to do a Bentonite Cleanse
If you are using the clay form you will want to stir a teaspoon into a large glass of water and immediately drink it down. Take extra care to stir the mixture until most if not all the clay is liquefied.
To help the cleansing process you will want to take an all natural fiber supplement. The supplement that I recommend is psyllium husk.
I’m not a doctor and can not tell you how long you should take Bentonite or if you should take it at all. But if I could make a recommendation this is what I would recommend.
After doing a bentonite cleanse over the course of 3-5 days I would take the liquid form at least twice a day.
Mixing a tablespoon of the liquid in a glass of water and drinking it in the morning on an empty stomach. Then I would take a second dose right before bedtime.
Because the environment where we all live is toxic our bodies have become magnets for every toxic chemical, heavy metal, and impurity.
Such levels of toxicity for many have caused our livers to become overworked in trying to rid it of the toxins. When this happens it’s time to consider doing a detox liver cleanse.
